Emily Preston
Senior Project Lead
(Australia New Zealand)
Emily has joined Innovation Unit Australia New Zealand from The Ākina Foundation, a social enterprise intermediary that helps to grow the emerging New Zealand social enterprise sector, where she was a Venture Manager.
Emily has worked in the ‘for-purpose’ sector in the UK, Australia and New Zealand for more than a decade. Over the past six years her focus has been on helping social entrepreneurs and non-profit leaders to develop their organisational capacity and programmatic impact from start-up, through growth and replication. She has a particular interest in cross-sector collaboration to achieve social outcomes.
Emily is passionate about education, both for its ability to empower individuals to overcome social disadvantage, and as a tool to spread best practice and accelerate impact between organisations. She has taught in schools in the UK, Paraguay and Hong Kong, and designed and facilitated learning networks and communities of practice between organisations both internationally and at a local level.
